Sevilla v Barcelona

The pressure is on Barcelona as they need to win away to Sevilla in order to advance to the next stage of the Copa del Rey. Sevilla won the first match at the Camp Nou by a score of 1-2 and are currently in the drivers’ seat.

Sevilla are coming off of a disappointing loss at home in their most recent league match as they fell to Racing de Santander by a score of 1-2. That result leaves the side managed by Manolo Jimenez in 5th place of the La Liga table with 30 points from their 17 matches and they sit 1 point behind the 4th place Deportivo La Coruna. The club is reporting two important potential injury absences as Abdoulay Konko and Diego Perotti are both doubtful. Sevilla had defeated Atletico Ciudad in the previous round by 9 to 3 on aggregate to advance.

The visiting Barcelona put themselves in a tough position with that 1-2 loss at home in the first leg. Pep Guardiola’s squad continue to sit atop the La Liga table in league play with 43 points and they have a 2 point edge on the 2nd place Real Madrid. Barsa are the only club in La Liga yet to have lost a game this season. Their most recent match saw them pickup a most convincing 0-5 win away to Tenerife at the Estadio Heliodoro Rodriguez Lopez.
