Real Madrid are home to Malaga in week 19 of La Liga needing another victory to keep the pressure on Barcelona. Madrid are coming off of a bad loss away from home last week.

The home side Madrid dropped all 3 points away to Athletic Bilbao last week by a score of 0-1 at the Estadio San Mames. The loss leaves the Merengues in 2nd place of the La Liga log with 41 points. They sit 5 points behind the first place Barsa and 3 points ahead of 3rd place Valencia. Manuel Pellegrini’s squad have 13 wins, 2 draws and 3 losses in 18 matches. Real have 3 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss over their last 5 matches. The team confirmed this week that Ruud Van Nistelrooy has left the club.

The visiting Malaga were winners at home in week 18 as they earned a bit of a measure of revenge over Getafe with 1-0 victory . Just days prior to that contest, Malaga had been trounced away to Getafe by a score of 5-1. The win leaves the side managed by Juan Ramon Muniz in 16th place of the league table with 17 points, 1 point behind the 15th place Almeria and just ahead of the 17th place Valladolid. The club will be missing Apono to injury for the next 6 weeks.
