The last place Portsmouth face another uphill battle when they play away to Manchester City in Premier League action. The Sky Blues are coming off of a disappointing loss which saw them eliminated from the Carling Cup on Wednesday.

The side managed by Roberto Mancini are in 6tth place of the Premiership log through 21 games with 38 points. They sit just behind the 5th place Liverpool on goal difference with 2 games in hand and 1 point ahead of the 7th place Aston Villa with 1 match in hand on them. Prior to that game the Citizens had lost their most recent league match away to Everton by a score of 2-0 at Fratton Park. Manchester City will be missing Johnson, Lescott, Ball and Roque Santa Cruz to injury while Vieira and Wayne Bridge are doubtful.

The cellar dwellers Pompey have 15 points for the season from 21 matches and they sit 4 points behind the 19th place Hull City with 1 match in hand. Portsmouth dropped two points at home on Tuesday when they were held to a 1-1 draw by West Ham United at Fratton Park. The side managed by Avram Grant had fallen behind early in the 2nd half but a goal from Webber helped them salvage a point. Portsmouth have two confirmed injury absences in Bouba Diop and Brown.
