Japan v Scotland

Japan are home to face-off against Scotland in an international friendly. This is Scotland’s first match since they failed to qualify for the World Cup in South Africa.

The home side Japan have qualified for next years tournament. They were able to qualify thanks to a 2nd place finish in the Asian qualifying group to Oceania powerhouse Australia. The Scots are coming off of a most disappointing finish in Group 9 of the qualifiers. They finished in 3rd place with 10 points, just behind the 2nd place Norway on goal difference. The side managed by George Burly posted 3 wins, 1 draw and 4 losses over their 8 matches. Their qualification came down to the wire but they were unable to pull out a win at Hampden Park against the Dutch as they lost by a score of 0-1.
