Inter Milan take on Chelsea in the first leg of their Champions League knockout stage clash. Inter Milan boss Jose Mourinho will be going up against the side he managed prior to taking the helm at the San Siro.

The neroazzurri are coming off of a disappointing result at home on Saturday as they were held to a 0-0 draw by Sampdoria. Inter lost two of their starting defenders in the first half to red cards as Walter Samuel of Argentina and Ivan Ramiro Cordoba of Colombia both saw red. Despite the two points dropped at home, Mourinho’s squad are still in first place of Serie A with 55 points from their 25 games. The home side had finished in 2nd place of Group F with 9 points, 2 behind Barcelona in the prior round.

The defending Premier League champions Chelsea are coming off of a big road win on Saturday at the Molineux. There, the Blues were able to knock off Wolverhampton Wanderers by a score of 0-2 behind a brace from Didier Drogba. The side managed by Carlo Ancelotti are in first place of the Premier League table with 61 points and they sit 4 points ahead of the 2nd place Manchester United. Chelsea advanced to this round after finishing in first place of Group D with 14 points, 2 ahead of the 2nd place FC Porto.
