Champions League Live 2009/10
The UEFA Champions League continues to be the premier domestic knockout club trophy in the world. Last season’s final between English clubs Manchester United and Chelsea resulted in a Man Utd win after a tense penalty shoot out.
This year promises to be just as competetive with all the major teams in Europe battling it out for the chance to play in the Champions League Final on May 22nd in Madrid. But who are the fancied teams that you can watch live this season?
The EPL or Premier League continues to dominate and with Liverpool, Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal all qualifying it would be a brave person to declare that at least one of these teams would not make it to the final this year.
In Spain, La Liga there is the threat from Real Madrid who under coach Pellegrini are slowly turning into a strong, organised team that will surely challenge the best teams. Barcelona always do well in UEFA competetions and with new faces coming and going at the Camp Nou the Catalan fans are waiting with baited breadth on how their team is going to perform this season. Despite having a very good domestic season Atlético Madrid and Villarreal are not expected to challenge this year.
The Italians (Serie A) always have a strong presence in the UEFA Champions League. For 2009/10 the most probable team to do well would be Inter Milan, with coach Jose Mourinho at the helm Inter fans are looking foward to a good CL campaign. Juventus are a team full of history and with some new signings in the Summer, Juve could be dark horses this year. That leaves Fiorentina and AS Roma who will do well to qualify from the group stages.
Werder Bremen and Bayern Munich are the two big clubs from the German Bundesliga that enter this years CL. There is concern that the German league is faltering behind the EPL and La Liga in terms of quality and excitement. This may indicate the poor showing in recent times of German clubs in the Champions League. FC Schalke 04, who perfomed well last season is the third German club to qualify and they go into the third qualifying round.

That leaves the outside or unfancied teams that may spring a surprise. From France, Lyon and Bordeaux flatter to deceive and in Holland, amazingly there is no Ajax, but PSV Eindhoven and FC Twente under new boss and England reject manager Steve McClaren will represent the Dutch in the CL this season.
If you loook further on, there is some new teams to add to the mix, Zenit St. Petersburg, Celtic, Porto, Sporting Lisbon, Rangers, Galatasaray, Olympiacos, Panathinaikos and Fenerbahçe could all prove to be successful this season and that what makes watching the Champions League live so exciting for season 2009/10.
